You who fear nothing
Because you have a christ’s reassurance,
of what has he really reassured you?
Perhaps nothing is all the grace we’re given?
You’ve considered the possibility have you not,
that there is no more than the here and now.
Is nothing then what you fear?
Heaven above no different from hell below,
both existing only to comfort and cajole.
You hold so tightly to the promise received,
letting your fear of nothing take control
and destroying all who may stand in your way.
You who are one single wave that crashes on the shore
before you rejoin that from which you came.
What a waste of the life that is given.
